She would call just to hi – it’s rare in so many ways. She reached back to so many people to me, Monica, Brandy, Jordan…all these young artists. She made us feel loved, strong. She’s an angel to us, a beautiful human being. We’ve been sent an angel for a long time.”

Alicia Keys at Clive Davis Pre Grammy Party

13 Feb 2012 | posted by Evelina

Alicia Keys performed at Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy Party last night.

Keys honored Houston by thinking back on how she'd been inspired by the R&B diva. She talked about losing someone you love.

”There are so many things … when you lose someone you love, then you think back to how much this person touched your life”

- she said before launching into a snippet of "I Wanna Dance With Somebody"- a Whitney song she liked as a young girl.

”Whitney was the barometer of what I hoped for and dreamed about. Then you meet the person and you form this friendship/sisterhood bond. The same man who helped her dreams come true made mine come true.”

She segued into an instrumental reading of "New York State of Mind" followed by "Empire State of Mind" and "No One." To warm and hearty applause, she noted, "All the love in here is so pure."Check photos  inside Pre-Grammy's Party.
